

Helen Eloise Garner McFarland, 90, of Lubbock, passed from this life on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center. Funeral services for Eloise will be held at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 10 a.m. with Donald Rhea Chesshir, J Henderson and Brett Hogland officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Eloise was born April 26, 1919 in Dalhart, Texas to Daniel David Garner and Ester Cleo (Holt) Garner. She married William Murice “Mac” McFarland on September 23, 1939 in Fort Worth, TX . She was a devoted wife and homemaker as well as loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She worked in several retail businesses in Lubbock including Hemphill-Wells and then retired from the Texas Tech Bookstore after 23 years of service. She enjoyed all Tech activities, especially football. She was a member of the Indiana Avenue church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murice McFarland, a daughter, Yvonne McFarland and a son, Murice Garner McFarland, both parents and 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Eileen and Jimmie Smith of Brenham, a granddaughter and her husband, Christina and Don G Chesshir of Floydada, a grandson and his wife, Brandt and Lori Smith of Katy, four great-grandsons, Tyler and Dillon Chesshir of Floydada and Drake and Brock Smith of Katy, two great-granddaughters, Sydni Chesshir of Floydada and Anna Mikeska of Katy, 2 sisters Dorothy Wallace of Corpus Christi and Joyce Wendt of Bay City, 2 brothers Andy and wife Aileen Garner of Carrollton and Albert and wife Anne Garner of Big Sandy, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends and loved ones in Christ.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 17, at Resthaven Memorial from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Family suggests memorials to Myleodysplastic Anemia Foundation, American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
