Evelyn Gray

Evelyn R. Gray, 85, passed away Wednesday February 12, 2014. Visitation will be Friday, February 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Saturday February 15 at 3:00 pm in Resthaven Memorial Park with a memorial service to follow at 4:00pm at First Church of the Nazarene.

Evelyn was born December 8, 1928, in Monrovia, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Gray and Ruth (Felker) Gray; sister, Carol J. Gray; brother, Paul N. Gray; and long time friend and roommate, Mary Waller.

Evelyn taught school for 38 years. She loved to travel during summer vacations and had traveled all over the United States and abroad. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, and went on many Work and Witness Mission trips all over the world. Evelyn cared deeply about her church, her family, and her friends. Because she allowed God to have first place in her life, many people have benefited from her warmth and love.

Evelyn is survived by a sister-in-law Rose Gray; 3 nieces, Sharon Gray, Norma Meador and Linda Hulsey all of Lubbock; 2 nephews, John Gray and Harry Hulsey both of Lubbock; 4 great nieces and nephews, 6 great-great nieces and nephews.
