

Services for Gay Troy Crump (Age 81), of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Lubbock will be Wednesday, November 5th 2014, 1:00pm, at Resthaven Chapel in Lubbock, with Rev. E. L. Bynum officiating. The family will receive visitors at Resthaven from 4:00pm until 7:00pm on Tuesday, November 4th 2014. Burial will follow funeral services in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Gay went to be with his Lord on October 30, 2014 in San Antonio. He was born January 25, 1933 in Petersburg, Texas to Luther and Susie Crump. He moved to Lubbock where he attended Lubbock public schools, graduating from Lubbock High School (Class of 1951). He married the former Wanda Hill of Lubbock, in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army two years active duty and six years in reserves, attaining rank of SFC and an honorable discharge.
He entered the printing trade in 1955, and established his own printing company, Vintage Press, Inc. in 1975. After 25 years in the business, he retired and later moved to Kelso, Washington and then to San Antonio, Texas. Gay was presented an honorary degree in Printology by Senator Robert Duncan, received the Texas Art Education Association’s first “Friend of the Arts” award. His company assisted Texas Instruments in the creation of its first “talking book” and earned many excellence in printing awards. He was a life member of the Texas Manufacturers Association, a past member of the Lions Club and Printing Industries Association of Texas, and a charter member of Lubbock High School Alumni. He established the first Classic T-Bird Club in Lubbock and was member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Gay leaves his wife Wanda, of San Antonio, one daughter, Kelly Thurmon and her husband Mark Thurmon, of San Antonio; a twin brother, Guy Crump and his wife, Donna McDonald of Pecos, New Mexico, and a sister, Doris Dye, of Lubbock, along with numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and Lee Royce and a sister, Ledell.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Texas Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 5665, Lubbock, Texas 79408.
