

George was born March 24, 1950, to Orville Izzard and Ethel Wilson Izzard in Springfield, IL. The family moved to Lubbock, Texas in January of 1952. George was a graduate of Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. He married Floretta Threatt on October 28, 1982 in Lubbock, Texas. They were married for almost 43 years. Throughout his life, George worked hard and wore many hats. In his early 20’s, George began working for Sysco Foods, where he quickly rose to become the head manager of the local distribution center, serving all of West Texas. He also raised hogs on his family farm, owned and operated an auctioneer business, and later served with dedication at the Lubbock County Appraisal District until his retirement. Beyond his work, George had a lifelong love for horses and could often be found enjoying the simple pleasures of farm life.
George’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He was a devoted member of Trinity Church in Lubbock, Texas where he worshiped and served faithfully and lived out his commitment to God in all that he did. His love for the Lord showed through his kindness, generosity, and devotion to his family.
George had an infectious sense of humor and loved making people laugh, especially his wife Floretta. His playful jokes, quick wit, and lighthearted spirit will be missed by all who knew him. His laughter and joy brightened many rooms, and his family will forever treasure the memories of his humor.
He is survived by his loving wife, Floretta Izzard; two children, Daniel Izzard and wife Amy, Whitney Glenn and husband Tory; and five cherished grandchildren, Madison Glenn, Tryston Glenn, River Glenn, Caleb Izzard, and Jadon Izzard who will carry forward his legacy of faith, integrity, and love.
He is also survived by his siblings; Carol Knott and husband Jerry, Fleda Key and husband Tommy; nephew Bobby Knott, nieces Melissa Glotzbach and Michelle Key.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Ethel Izzard; sibling, Arla Adams and husband Jim and nephew Jimmy Adams.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Evan Miles Threatt III, Bobby Knott, Tory Glenn, Tryston Glenn, Caleb Izzard, and Jadon Izzard.
George will be remembered as a godly man, a steady provider, and a source of laughter and wisdom for all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Trinity Christian School of Lubbock Scholarship Fund.
