Glenda Bowman

Glenda Bowman passed away from this life to the next on September 2, 2021 at 1:30 AM at the age of 78. She was survived by her son Philip, daughter-in-law Jennifer, and only grandson Alex, she loved them very much. She was also was survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Dee and Norma Bowman of Houston and Lowell and Kay Bowman of Lubbock as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pinkie and Homer Hargrove, sister Jeannine Slusher, brother Bill Hargrove, and husband Jay Bowman.

Jay and Glenda were married in Tucamcari, New Mexico on July 24, 1966. Jay was a minister in the Church of Christ and Glenda the majority of her life a homemaker and preacher’s wife. She began her working career as a teacher and later in life an office administrator at various companies. Glenda held a Bachelors Degree in Education from ACU.

One of her passions was sports. She could discuss almost any sport with almost anyone and know all the stats and figures. Upon her death many young guys said they would miss discussing the Cowboys with her.

Glenda was also a singer to the point of perfection. Her soprano voice was always praised and she sang at many weddings and funerals throughout her life. She starred in several musicals while attending ACU. Even at 78 could sing the most complicated arrangements and hit the “high notes”. She enjoyed helping others and cherished gospel singing and song classes.

But her highlight was her family time, she and grandson Alex would spend afternoons or evenings together doing puzzles or playing cards, then team up together for Skip Bo matches against Philip and Jennifer.

Most importantly she was woman of God. She attended the Milwaukee Avenue Church of Christ and was always an encourager and positive influencer to others. Her prayer list was extensive and remembered everyone in every situation.

Services for Glenda will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on September 9 2021 at 1 PM with Nathan Fritz and Lance Bowman officiating.
