Gordon Willis Mahon

Gordon was born on July 7th, 1932, to John and Nola Mahon in Loraine, Texas. After graduating High School in 1950, Gordon furthered his education at McMurry University, graduating with his degree in 1954.

After graduating college, Gordon enlisted in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, serving in the Korean War.

Gordon dedicated nine years to the Shell Oil Company but would find his true calling in 1966 when he went into the dry-cleaning business. Gordon held the position of President of the Texas Laundry and Dry-Cleaning Association from 1977 to 1978. He served the Lubbock community at Mahon Cleaners until his retirement in 2009.

Gordon was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Melba Mahon; brothers, Eldon, Royce, and Brian Mahon; and his sister, Melba Rickman.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Mathews, and son Ward, as well as many relatives and friends.

A visitation for Gordon will take place on Tuesday, December 9th from 5 pm – 7 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, December 10th at 11 am at St. Luke’s Methodist Church with burial to follow at Terrace Cemetery in Post, Texas.
