

Services for Harry D. Dixon, 80, of Lubbock, will be held on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 2 pm in the Ford Chapel of First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Mr. Dixon passed away on Friday, March 23rd.
Harry was born on August 6, 1931 in Rusk County, TX to Roger Kirkpatrick and Rose Dell Bohanan Dixon. After graduating from Talco High School he enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in 1952, serving in the Korean War. He later graduated from TTU with a master’s degree in education, and married Doris Elkins in Petersburg on November of 1959.
Harry served as principal and teacher within the Lubbock ISD for 31 years. Following his retirement, he served as a bailiff for Judges Mackey Hancock and Drue Farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church and led the Jason Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Melvin Dixon.
Survivors include his wife; 2 sons, Doug Dixon and wife, Irene of Round Rock, David Dixon of Keller; one brother, Gene Dixon of Houston; five grandchildren and one great grandson.
The family suggests memorial to First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, from 5-7 pm. Condolences may be offered at www.resthavenfuneralhome.com.
