Pete was born in Bell County, Texas to Cora Ann and Earl Thomas Schoepf. He was the youngest
son of ten children. During World War II, he followed his brothers into the military and
honorably served his country. After returning home, he began farming outside of Ropesville
with his father and brother, Beryl. He joined First Baptist Church, Ropesville, where he remained
a faithful and loved member of his church for almost sixty-nine years. Pete married Joyce Jean
Curtis in 1959. They soon welcomed two daughters, Nancy and Laura.
He loved to fish and frequently took his family on fishing trips. After more than 50 years of
farming, he retired and dedicated his time to his garden. He found happiness in joyfully
comparing his garden to those of his friend’s! He delighted in sharing his homegrown produce
with others. When not in his garden, he was reading. He often read two or three novels a week,
mostly westerns. Pete was an avid fan of Texas Tech sports. He was always excited to watch and
discuss all things Red Raider.
He was a loving grandfather to Ashley, Josh, Seth, and Cade. He was often seen with at least one
grandchild tagging along as he went about his work on the farm. Years passed and he became a
great-grandfather to Aria. She brought so much joy and laughter to his life in his later years.
Pete was a godly man and a wonderful role model. He left his children and grandchildren with
many happy, loving, and, sometimes, very funny memories. He taught life lessons they will
cherish and carry with them for the rest of their lives. He will be forever remembered and loved
by his family.
Pete is survived by his daughters, Nancy Greenhill (Bobby), and Laura Schoepf. He is also
survived by grandchildren, Ashley Nix, Joshua Greenhill (Sanjana), Seth Schoepf, Cade Schoepf;
great-grandchild, Aria Nix; sister, Cleta Franklin, and many nieces and nephews.
Pete was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Joyce; parents, Cora Ann and Earl Thomas
Schoepf; siblings, Charles Edward Schoepf “Snooks”, Cora Mae Reynolds, George William
Schoepf “Punk”, Earl Thomas Schoepf, Jr. “Sunshine”, Jarrett Baker Schoepf, Beryl Lee Schoepf,
