

James was born March 18, 1948, in Quitaque, TX to James E. and Bobbie L. (Boyles) Maples. James went to Silverton public schools for nine years then finished high school and graduated from Plainview High School. He went to work for SPS in 1975 and worked there for 35 years, retiring in 2010. He received a presidential commendation for helping save the life of a co-worker. He was so proud of that.
James married Gloria Summers on May 10,1977 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents James E. and Bobbie L. Maples, one granddaughter- Rebekah Summers, and the love of his life, his loving wife Gloria.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son John Summers and wife Carol, grandson- Jacob Summers and wife Ashley, granddaughter- Megan Neuberger and husband Michael, granddaughter- Lexi Mogavero and husband Joey, three great granddaughters- Ruby, Jade, and Opal Neuberger, one great grandson-Joshua Mogavero. Two brothers -Grady Maples and wife Lori and Mark Maples, three sisters-Jean Linville and husband Floyd, Kathie Herring and husband Bill, and Shirley Maples. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. James was such a big hearted, giving person and a great friend. A loving brother, uncle, and a super Pawpa.
