Jimmie Enriquez Mendez, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend, passed away on May 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on September 15, 1950, in San Angelo, Texas, to Carlos and Isabel Mendez.
Jimmie lived a life defined by hard work, loyalty, humor, and devotion to the people he loved most. From an early age, he carried a strong spirit and determination that would guide him throughout his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for eight years, including four years of active duty and four years of inactive service. His time in the military shaped the discipline, strength, and honor that became the foundation of his character.
After completing his military service, Jimmie dedicated himself to a long and respected career as a truck driver. The open road became a second home to him, and through years of commitment and sacrifice, he achieved the incredible accomplishment of driving more than 2 million accident-free miles. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect of everyone who knew him for his dependability, work ethic, and perseverance.
Above all else, Jimmie was a family man. He shared 24 beautiful years of marriage with his loving wife, Donna. Together they built a life full of love, laughter, strength, and unforgettable memories. He was a proud father to his four sons: Jimmy Ramirez Mendez, Toby Ramirez Mendez, Steven Ross, and Chris Ross. His family continued to grow with the blessing of 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, each one holding a special place in his heart. Whether through advice, teasing jokes, or simply being present, Jimmie made sure his family always knew they were loved.
Anyone who knew Jimmie knew he was truly one of a kind. He was honorable, strong-willed, and tough, yet behind that toughness was a heart full of love and compassion. He had an unmatched sense of humor and was known as a true comedian and prankster. Jimmie loved making people laugh, pulling harmless jokes, and keeping everyone around him smiling, even during difficult times. His laughter was contagious, his stories unforgettable, and his personality larger than life.
Everyone who knew Jimmie had a saying whenever they saw him coming: “Watch out, here comes trouble.” It was said with love, laughter, and affection because wherever Jimmie went, you could be sure a joke, a prank, or a good story was not far behind. Now, his family smiles through their tears imagining Heaven hearing those same words: “Watch out Heaven, here comes trouble.”
Jimmie believed in standing up for what was right, working hard for what you earned, and always protecting the people you love. He faced life’s challenges with courage and resilience, never backing down and never losing his sense of humor along the way. The lessons he taught through his actions, strength, and love will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and everyone blessed enough to know him.
Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his family takes comfort in the countless memories he created and the legacy he leaves behind. Jimmie Enriquez Mendez will forever be remembered for his service, his sacrifice, his laughter, and the unconditional love he gave so freely.
Funeral services will be held on May 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel, 6025 82nd Street, Lubbock, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Jimmie’s remarkable life.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
