John was born on February 7, 1977 in Lubbock. He attended Texas Tech University School of Business. John was a talented musician, loving son, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
John is survived by his parents, Donna and Dusty Bownds of Sundown and John and Brenda Ewerz of Levelland, son Dante Zapata, siblings Steve Ewerz, Kristi Lankford, Shelly Ewerz-Sheffield, Jessica Vergara, and Josh Lee, and granddaughter Chloe.
John is preceded in death by grandparents Bob and Nancy Ewerz, Noel Deavenport, sister Janessa Lee and uncle Rex McGuire.
A celebration of John's life will take place Saturday June 16th, 2012 at the Resthaven Funeral Home chapel at 2:00pm.
