
Rondal graduated from Avoca High School in 1955 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education from Texas Tech University in 1959, followed by a Master of Education from Southwestern State University in Oklahoma. He devoted 50 years to education as a science teacher, serving 32 years in Texas public schools and 18 years in New Mexico. His students advanced to UIL state competitions numerous times in science events and achieved success in Environmental Design contests and Envirothon competitions.
Rondal’s dedication to education was recognized with several honors, including being named Outstanding Chemistry Teacher of the South Plains of Texas by the American Society of Chemistry in 1987 and Outstanding Secondary Science Teacher by the New Mexico Academy of Science in 1998.
Rondal is survived by his son, Gregory Scott Nauert, and daughter-in-law, Elane Nauert; his granddaughter, RuAnn Godinez, and husband, Armando Godinez; and his grandson, Geoffery Nauert. His great-granddaughters, Alba and Aurora, and extended family.
