John was an aviator, a motorcycle enthusiast and business man and who enjoyed working hard. John tried to live by the motto, “To start earlier, and work longer, is he who would be successful”.
February 1997 John married Sandra Hall and they have been happily married for 22 years. John would say to anyone and everyone that meeting and marrying Sandra was his greatest accomplishment. They enjoyed spending time together and going on all type of adventures whether it was by car, plane, motorcycles, RV, boat or a long stroll together.
John was passionate about starting and operating successful businesses. John started Big Timber Tree Service and The Gold Stop. He loved buying and selling precious metals. John and Sandra sold everything to move to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Mexico in 2016 with the goal of spending more time together by opening Casa Bella Cruz, a vacation rental property. John and Sandra put everything they had into starting and developing a place that no matter who came their, they wanted everyone to feel like friends and/or family. Shortly after settling in Mexico Sandra was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer. So instead of pouring their heart, sweat, and dreams into this business venture the focus became taking care of his beloved wife. After two surgeries, and numerous chemo treatments, John and Sandra made the decision to move back to Lubbock for Sandra to be close to her family and for her to receive the best continuity of medical care. Regrettably, within a month of relocating to Texas, John abruptly and tragically was gone.
John was proceeded in death by his mother Joy Scott, father John Scott Sr., and sister Natasha Scott. He is survived by his wife Sandra, brother Miles and wife Tami Scott, sister Rebecca and husband Bruce Komarek, son Brandon Scott, 5 nieces, 7 nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews.
