

Leila “Granny” Weaver, 88, passed away Thursday July 31, 2014 in Lubbock. She was born May 4, 1926 in Knox, PA to Lee and Lila Neely. She married Gerald A Weaver on April 6, 1945 in Knox, PA and they moved to Lubbock in 1951. Leila proudly spent her working life as a clerk at Varsity Bookstore and Texas Tech Bookstore where she was loved by the students and affectionally known as “Granny”.
She enjoyed any kind of baseball especially Texas Tech and Pittsburg. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Jean Suddarth and husband Robert, Pam Black-burn, Beth Hefner and husband Pete, Linda Weaver and Jerry Weaver and wife Donna; grandchildren, Renee Edwards and husband Keith, Sharla Moser, Jennifer Marshall and husband Phoenix, Christina Sneed, Andy Lugo, Christopher Hefner, Jordan Weaver, and Hannah Weaver; great-grandchildren, Averi Moser, Hagan Bownds, Jaxson Edwards and Tate Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers.
Visitation will be tonight, August 1, 2014 from 6 to 8 pm in Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday August 2 at 10 am in Resthaven Funeral Homes Abbey Chapel with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, TX or to Meals on Wheels. Condolences may be offered at
