

Funeral services for Lera Dee Webb Roedler, 97, of Lubbock, will be at 10 am, Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at First Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at Resthaven. Mrs. Roedler passed away on Saturday, November 19th.
Lera was born on September 4, 1914 near King, Texas and grew up in Pearl,Texas. She attended schools at Sweet Home and graduated from Pearl High School in 1932.
She was saved at 11 years of age and called to the ministry. She completed 4 years of education and 2 years of ministry experience required for ordination in the Church of the Nazarene where she was ordained as an elder in 1937 by Dr. R.T. Williams, General Superinten-dent of Austin, Texas.
She continued various courses of education and attended South Plains College.
She accepted her first pastorate at Nazarene Chapel near Copperas Cove and in the same church she and J D Roedler were married, October 5, 1936.
She pastored churches in the San Antonio & West Texas Districts and J D was always at her side. They moved to West Texas where J D worked for Furrs Inc. and she continued to do pastoral work for many years. She also worked part time in retail stores.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J D; a son, Jerry Roedler; one sister, Lona South; and three brothers, Hubert, Delbert and Joe Webb.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Frances; 3 granddaughters, Melanie and Archie Lusk, Tonia and Felix Gallardo, and Devon and Scott Townsend; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Justin, Ashley, Felix Jr., Amanda, Cody, and Jacob; one great-great granddaughter, whose name is also Lera; a sister-in-law, Dolores Webb, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6-8 pm. Memorials are suggested to the building fund at 1st Church of the Nazarene.
