Lewis Scott Faver was called to heaven and passed from this life on October 21, 2022. Lewis was born January 5, 1928, in Sweetwater, TX. He was raised with strong Christian values and in 1950 graduated from Abilene Christian College with a degree in Agri-Business. He served our nation in the US Army Corp of Engineers from 1950 to 1952. When he decommissioned, he returned to school at Texas Tech and obtained his Teaching Certificate. During his time a Texas Tech, Lewis was introduced, by a Sweetwater church friend, to Frankie Joy Bozeman and they were married in September of 1954. He was employed as the Assistant County Agent in Dumas for 2 years and then spent the next 11 years in Earth, TX as a farmer and teacher, where he and Frankie began raising their family of four daughters.
The family moved to Lubbock, in 1968, where Lewis was employed for the next several years at Smith Lawn Maternity Home. The girls attended Lubbock Christian School and then obtained college degrees. During this time, Lewis and Frankie held additional jobs to assist in the school expenses. Lewis managed and taught at a Drivers Ed School and other evening and weekend jobs, as needed. Lewis, Frankie and their daughters attended Smith Lawn Church of Christ where Lewis was a deacon for many years. Lewis was a family man through and through and wanted the best possible life for his daughters. During this time, Lewis went to work with the State School and soon became certified in Special Education (Texas Tech) and taught at the State School for 12 years. He then moved on to Frenship ISD, where he taught Special Education for an additional 16 years, before retiring to stay home and care for his ailing wife, Frankie. Lewis spent several quality years with Frankie before she passed away in 2003. Lewis was a dedicated Christian family man.
Lewis was introduced, by his cousin Don and Joyce, to a lovely lady named Carol Hanes from Abilene. They courted for a while and then decided to marry in June of 2005. They were married for 17 wonderful years, living in Lubbock, surrounded by close family and friends.
Lewis was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and his last several decades he was a member of the South Plains Church of Christ in Lubbock. He loved to play table games with family, especially “42”, teaching his kids at a very young age to play, as well. He was an ‘avid’ Texas Tech fan and could talk to you for hours on end about the coaches, players, statistics and how this was going to be the year they win it all. Lewis was full of life and Christian virtue and brought his own special touch to all who got to know him.
Lewis was preceded in death by his wife, Frankie, his brothers Will and Dudley Faver, parents L D and Nina Faver and his stepson Tom Conkling. He is survived by his wife Carol Faver, his daughters, Francee Faver, Joy Stone, Strelsa Faver, La Renda Faver, Son-In-Law Jerry Stone, Grand Daughters Annessa Lawson and Madison Douglas, Grand son-in-laws Trey Lawson and West Douglas, two great grandchildren Wilde and Selah Douglas, Stepchildren Joni Henry and Karen Delavega (and husband Steve) and step daughter-in-law Leah Conkling, and many other close relatives and friends.
