Linda Sue (Susie) Montoya

Linda Sue “Susie” Montoya passed away in Plano, TX on May 23, 2024, at the age of 78. She was born March 16th, 1946, in Brownfield, Texas, to parents Thomas Grady Martin and Berta Beatrice Martin. Susie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister Martinette Goolsby and her husband Leo of Lubbock; her two sons, Michael Montoya of Lubbock, and Patrick Montoya and his wife Stefanie of Boerne; her grandson Lincoln Montoya and her dog Teddy Montoya.

Susie graduated from Denver City High School in 1964 and earned her Education degree from Baylor University in 1968. After graduating from Baylor, Susie worked for Lubbock ISD as a first-grade schoolteacher; a passion she continued until her passing.

Susie was a new and active member of Southcrest Baptist Church of Lubbock, TX. Prior to joining Southcrest Baptist, Susie was a longtime member at First Baptist Church Lubbock, and spent 30 years there rocking babies in the nursery on Sundays. Susie enjoyed making baby blankets for newborn babies, as well as doing other crafts. Most importantly, Susie shared Jesus with everyone she met.

A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., May 30, 2024, at Resthaven Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., May 31, 2024, at First Baptist Church in the sanctuary with the burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
