Linda was born on February 7, 1949, in Monroe, Louisiana, but spent most of her life in Lubbock, Texas, where she built a life centered on love, family, and a lot of laughter. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, whose warmth and strength touched everyone who knew her.
Those who knew Linda will remember her for the love she had for her family and friends, her sense of humor, her feistiness, her ability to persevere in hard times, her faith, and her love of shopping. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Scott, sons, Milton Scott, and Michael Scott [Nona], grandchildren, Christopher Crumley [Krista], Ryan Crumley [Brittany], Kelsey Rekieta [Lance], Haidyn Prather [Keevan], and Cody Henegar [Beth], eleven great grandchildren, Madison Crumley, Camrie Crumley, Henley Crumley, Beyla Crumley, Kase Rekieta, Kolt Rekieta, Krew Prather, Greer Prather, Bek Prather, Tyler Henegar, and Sophia Henegar. She is also survived by her sisters, Lawana Place and Donna Grist, and her brother Jonathan Stout. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Preston, parents, Milton and Virginia Place, brothers Glen Tanner and Jerry Gibson, and her sister, Sherry Hatchett.
A service will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 19th Street, Lubbock, Texas. There will be a reception following the services.
