We knew Marcus through the Kidney Care Center. In the short time that we were honored in getting to know him we were always happy to see and speak with him. It was easily discernible that he was a man of faith, strength, positivity and compassion. It seemed he fought hard which is so commendable when dealing with kidney disease. We considered him a friend and I’m glad we had the chance to become friends in the short time we got to know him. Rest easy Mr. Wilson, you are missed but we rejoice that you are whole again. I was so saddened to hear of Marcus's passing. My deepest condolences to his family and to all the many, many friends he has left behind. It is hard to convey what a unique gift and presence Marcus was. His warmth, encouragement, and abundance of humour made such a difference to all he came in contact with. His love for people and big heart was truly evident and came through in all he did. A wise person once said it is not necessarily the specific words that we say that will be remembered, but the way we make others feel that leave a lasting impression long after the words are forgotten. There is no doubt that the impression he made on all of us endures, and can't help but raise a smile (or belly laugh!) nor can we fail to recall in our bones his many acts of kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness. What a legacy he leaves behind. I think Marcus would be the first to say he was just trying to pass along the grace and love that he had been given. May he rest in peace and rise in glory, and may his memory be a continual blessing.

I knew Marcus from my long career as the governmental relations director at Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corp.  Marcus was one of my favorite student financial professionals with whom I often interacted.  He was dedicated, thorough, focused on the financial needs of postsecondary education students, always ready to engage in discussions, a great resource - just a real personable and knowledgeable professional.  He'll be missed by many.

BTW - These attributes also apply to Becky.

Marcus was always such a joy to be around, I enjoyed working across from his office for 5 years, enjoyed seeing his crazy socks everyday and getting to know him. We exchanged our "Kidney stories and Kidney statuses" via email over the last 3-4 years. I am grateful he is no longer suffering but saddened that he is gone. You will be missed Marcus Wilson, Thank you for always being such a kind and joyful person no matter how hard things were going for you at the time!

Rest in heaven my dear friend. Working with you these past 30 years has been a true pleasure. You will be missed. Condolences to his entire family.

Becky - My heart is breaking for you and I send my support and prayers. I enjoyed working with Marcus for so many years in the student loan industry and have so many great memories of him. Always with a smile on his face, always laughing, always so supportive of the students he served and so respected by the TX financial aid community. You two were meant for each other, and I will cherish the memories I have of him.

Marcus was my roommate for our senior year at LCU. We rented my uncle house off campus. We had a great time that year. I read every Louie Lamour book he brought to his room. Godspeed to heaven!!!

Becky and family, it is with a heavy heart that I offer my deepest sympathies.  I pray that you find peace and healing during this difficult time.  Marcus was my colleague for many years but most of all he was “my friend.”  He was the type of man that made a difference in a person’s life.  It seemed that he always knew if you needed some words of wisdom, a smile, or a hug.  I had the strongest respect for his integrity, character, and kindness.  I will miss him dearly.  Thank you Becky and family for sharing this caring man with us.

One of my first memories was from working at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center was Marcus Wilson. His kindness was grand and his personality was one of a kind. I still have some of those colorful designed socks he gave me several years back:)

My thoughts and prayers to you, Becky and family, and all Marcus' work family during this difficult time. I worked for Marcus from 2011 through 2016, but he was more than a boss. He was one of the most kind, compassionate, funny, and modestly wise people I've had the pleasure of knowing. He helped shape the person I am today, and he will be sorely missed. Though I haven't worked with him in several years, I still think of him often and will carry those fond memories through the rest of my personal and professional life. I am so glad I was able to briefly see and speak to him a few weeks ago. May everyone he touched find peace and comfort in the coming days.

My sincere sympathy to Marcus’ family and friends.  What a difficult time for all of us.  We have lost an amazing person.  Marcus brought so much joy, compassion and hope to us all; both at work and as a friend.  I will miss his “freebie stories” that he would share with us.  I will miss his infectious laughter.
