Maria Garza Moreno

She was born in O’Donnell, TX to Ascencion and Margarita Gonzales on February 28, 1958.

Maria married Jessie C. Garza in June of 1979; they had two children, Jessica and Jessie Garza Jr. In 1996 he was received by our Lord Jesus Christ. She the married, John Moreno in September 2004; they were married for 15 years. She had a total of five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Maria was a strong independent godly woman who was devoted to her family. She was creative, talented, and artistic. She loved to sew, knit, crochet, paint, and draw. There is nothing she could not do. Mom always welcomed all her grandchildren and great grandchild with a smile of her face and opened arms.

She always put everyone over herself and never asked for anything in return. She was the Matriarch and glue that held all our family together. She always said, “Family comes first.” Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her family.

Maria is survived by her husband John Moreno; daughter, Jessica Garza Colunga; (son- in-law), Roy Junior Colunga; son, Jessie Garza Jr.; (daughter- in- law), Michelle Garza; grandchildren: Victoria Machado, Ramiro Machado, Noah Garza, Gabby Hernandez, Jessie James Garza; great-grandchild, Delilah Ramirez; and siblings: Juan Gonzales, Maria Rodriguez, Lupe Gonzales, Sandy Almanza, Julia Gonzales, Sulema Gonzales, Edward Gonzales, and Martina Sanchez.

Maria was also preceded death by her siblings: Jose Luisa Gonzales, Manuela Gonzales, Ramon Gonzales, and Jesus Gonzales.

Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2020 at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel.
