Our beloved Miff, 91 year old matriarch of the Wylie family, went to her heavenly home in the early hours of Sunday, January 25. She was attended during her passing by her entire family at Covenant Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park on Wednesday, January 28 at 3:00PM and conducted by Dr. Keith Wiseman, Associate Pastor, First United Methodist Church of Lubbock. Family visitation will begin at Resthaven at 2:00PM.
Marifrances Lowe was born in Dallas on June 2, 1923 and was attending Newcomb College (now Tulane University) in New Orleans when she met and soon married Robert Keen Wylie from Lubbock on January 20, 1945. Bob was in the Army at that time and when World War II ended, they made their home in Lubbock where Bob's parents owned and operated Wylie's Drug on the Lubbock square. They earned their living and reared their two daughters together until Bob passed away on March 7, 2010.
They were part of America's greatest generation who came back from the war, and they experienced lifelong friendships like few in our mobile society of today. They belonged to countless groups in Lubbock which supported the community and those friendships.
Marifrances was a member of First United Methodist Church, Heritage Study Club, Alpha Delta Pi and dance and bridge clubs that spanned her seventy years in Lubbock. When her daughters were young, she worked with the Lubbock Council of Camp Fire Girls and she was honored to help colonize Tech's chapter of Alpha Delta Pi. Along with countless fun memories with those groups, she cherished friends from years of dance lessons and costume-sewing for her girls.
She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Gertrude Lowe of Dallas and her husband Robert Keen Wylie and son-in-law Steve Streetman, both of Lubbock.
Survivors include brother Dr. Fred H. Lowe of Diamondhead, MS and formerly of Dallas; daughters Keenie Kyle (Jack Britton) and Linda Streetman of Lubbock; grandchildren John Bottoni (Kristie); Matt Bottoni (Kelly); Ryan Streetman (Nicole) all of Lubbock; and Heather Streetman (Vanessa) of Sachse, TX; step-grandson Jack Kyle and great-grandsons Justice Bottoni and Chase Streetman, all of Lubbock.
The family would especially like to thank our mother's special caregiver, Adela Rincon, for her six years of devotion to first both Mother and Daddy and then Mother alone. Special thanks also go to Dr. Brad Snodgrass and all the loving caregivers at his office and at Covenant Medical Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent in her name to Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st St., Lubbock, TX 79410 or to the television ministry of First United Methodist Church, 1411 Broadway, Lubbock, TX 79401.
Messages may be sent to the family at www.ResthavenFuneralHome.com.
