Melba J. Smith, 77, of Lubbock, passed away June 18, 2011. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at 10:00 AM in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Melba was born July 6, 1933, in Roscoe, TX to parents Willie B. (Brazil) and Buford C. Jackson. She had worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
Survivors include her son, Keith (and Jean) Smith; three daughters: Monica (and Tommy) Bleeker, Karla (and Ken) Mull, and Stacye Rodriguez; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy R. Smith, who passed away in 2005; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
