Melba Jean Davis Watson, 95, passed away April 23, 2024. She was born on March 26, 1929 in Pottsville, Arkansas, to Dewey O. and Louise (Bradford) Davis. She graduated from Lubbock High School 1947 and met her husband, Leonard E. Watson, while working the concession stand at the old Lindsay Theatre in Lubbock, TX.
Melba and Leonard were married December 21, 1947 in Lubbock, TX, and Melba worked at Travelers Insurance while living in Lubbock; they moved on to Bay City, TX, where she worked as a secretary at the high school. Later, they relocated to Denton, TX, where she worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Denton Independent School District.
Melba is survived by two children, Ronnie Lynn (Debbie) Watson of Westminster, CO, and Marsha Gail Watson Andersen of Plano, TX; two grandchildren, Corey (Katie) Andersen of Haughton, LA, and Adrienne (Chris) Andersen of the Colony, TX, one great grandchild Carter Andersen; one brother, Kenneth Davis (Pam) of Lubbock TX, and several nieces and nephews.
Melba was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard E. Watson, her parents Dewey O. and Louise Davis, brother Dewey L. Davis, sister Anna Davis Montgomery, brother-in-law Russell Montgomery and sister-in-law Robbie Davis.
