Mitsy Blakeley

Mitsy Blakeley, 82, of Lubbock, passed away on August 3, 2013 in Lubbock, Texas. Mitsy was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas to Tom and Elizabeth Blair. She graduated from Texas Women’s University in Denton and went on to teach kindergarten for 32 years. Mitsy married Clyde Blakeley in 1952 and moved to Lubbock where they raised their four children. Mitsy loved to cook and was also an avid gardener, quilter, and church member. Mitsy had such spirit and verve with unconditional love for every soul she met.

Mitsy is preceded by her husband, Clyde, and her siblings, Nancy, Margaret, Carroll, and Tom. She is survived by her younger brothers, Joe and J.D., her four children, Anne, Jim, Karen, and Julie, and her grandchildren, Kristie, Josh, Jennifer, Steven, Audrey, Dani, Jimmy, and Alex, and her great-grandchildren, Cody, Eric, and Reese.

Funeral services for Mitsy will be at 1:00p.m. on Wednesday August 7 in Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Danny Doak officiating. Burial will follow immediately in Resthaven Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 6 from 3:00p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
