Sharon, Dale, and Glen - 
Obviously the return to Lubbock was sad/happy.  I will miss that woman greatly.  As you know she helped me in dire times more than once.  It also makes me realize how much the Quanah folx did for my mom during her last several years.  What a pair - Noma and Velma.  Makes me smile.  Love to all.

My thoughts are with you during this sad time.  It's hard to lose the ones we love...especially our mother.  I have such wonderful memories of the  Campbell family.  You've all been part of my life through Uncle Wes and Aunt Joyce for as long as I can remember.  My love to all of you.

Gone Home!  Space does not permit room to recall all the memories but they will remain - school years, baseball games, singing conventions.  Singing now in the Heavenly choir.  May the family find comfort in God's loving presence.

To the Campbell family, we all were truly saddened to hear of the passing of Noma. We want you to know that we were truly blessed to have known her. On behalf of Frankie, Noel, and Lisa, just know that our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

October 1967, District Singing Convention, Decatur TX:  I'm not 100% certain, but I _think_ that was the first time I ever heard the Campbell Family Quartet.  Woodson, Noma, Red, Serf, and "old man Keaton," right?  I was a skinny fully-haired teenager attending his first singing more than 30 miles from home--in this case it was ten times that.  When the Campbells got on the program and reached the end of the first verse, I started exhaling as they hit the last note.  I didn't inhale again until they did.......... and nearly passed out as a result!

They were definitely part of what inspired me to start writing gospel songs soon thereafter.  Some years later I was truly honored when they sang one of my tunes entitled "I Know That I'm Saved," from a Stamps-Baxter book.  Noma herself was featured in the chorus:

"I'm saved, I tell it loud and long,
I'm saved, oh hear my vict'ry song,
I have received amazing grace;
I'm free from all my sinful past,
I'll see the saints at last...."

The blessings I've received from not just those Campbells, but many of their spouses, siblings, children, in-laws, etc, shall remain in my heart until I, too, "see the saints at last."

All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.  Noma is now at peace not only mentally, physically and with her dear Woodson and family, but with our Heavenly Father.  She is singing in that Heavenly Choir, and oh what a sound she is hearing, and the sights she's seeing.  She has only gone on a short journey, and one day soon we will all joining her.  I have very fond memories of her and your family as I grew up in the singing conventions.  What a time we had.  The Campbell family has always been near and dear to me.  I pray that peace, comfort and rest comes over all of you, and that God keeps you close to Him as you go thru this time.  With love -
