

Nora was born to Minnie Bell and John Lloyd in Paint Rock Texas on September 21, 1934. She attended elementary school in Eldorado, TX in a one room schoolhouse. In 1944 the family moved to Morton, TX where her family farmed and she attended Morton High School.
She stated she was chief cook and bottle washer for her 3 younger brothers when she was 10 years old. She met the love of her life in Morton and was married to Leon Stinson February 16, 1951. Prior to their meeting she loved to jitterbug at the roller skate rink. He had two left feet so her jitterbug days were over.
Together they farmed cotton and other crops until moving to Lubbock in 1958. She worked as a school crossing guard, census taker, phone book delivery, child care in the home, the candy counter at the
drive-in theater and the daycare at Forest Heights Methodist Church in Lubbock.
She obtained her GED and applied to Texas Tech University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1973 and was on the dean's list. All while raising 3 children and taking care of the household. She worked as a caseworker for Child Protective Services in Lubbock. She became a licensed Master Social Worker in 1995.
They moved to the family ranch in Paint Rock, TX after Leon’s retirement in 1988. She continued her career as a supervisor of case workers in several counties in the San Angelo area. She retired from CPS in 1994. After retirement she continued working with judges on custody cases.
During her career she received many awards including the Liberty Bell award for her special work with Judges in child custody cases. In 2004 they moved from the ranch into a retirement community in San Angelo. In 2015 they moved to Eden Hill Communities in New Braunfels to be closer to family.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church. An active member of the United Methodist Women until her health prevented it. She enjoyed hosting Korean foreign exchange students that were sponsored by the church in San Angelo. She and Leon were members of the Road Runners RV club for many years and she enjoyed the travels with the RV and camping in general. She was a member of the Texas Democratic Women.
Nora was an excellent seamstress and made many hand quilted quilts. . While on the farm she would make clothes from the feed sacks as they were printed cotton. Coming from a farming background she insisted on growing vegetables in spite of the deer in the neighborhood that ate everything. She managed to grow tomatoes and squash and flowers in her small deer proof garden at Eden Hill. She got lots of squash and tomatoes. She was very competitive and the chair volleyball was right up her alley. She enjoyed dominos and cards with the women.
Nora was preceded in death by her beloved husband Leon of 66 years in 2016. Also her three younger brothers, Edward Lloyd, Wesley Lloyd and Johnny Lloyd.
She is survived by their 3 children, daughter Ann & Cliff McClendon of Marion, TX, son Rex and Deborah Stinson of Lubbock, TX, daughter Donna Kay & Mike Kenton of Plano, TX,
7 grandchildren, Stephen McClendon, Lea Ann Ramirez, Adam Stinson, Clinton Stinson, Harmony Starch, Megan Kenton, Ashley Davidson and 11 great grandchildren.
Nora's pallbearers are, Stephen McClendon, Cliff McClendon, Adam Stinson, Cinton Stinson,
Trey Collisson and Jerod Starch.
