Patricia “Pat” Ann Cossairt was born on September 18, 1948, in Hyattsville, Maryland, and entered rest in her Lubbock home on January 24, 2018. She was the loving daughter of George and Louise Yetter and the devoted wife of Jeff Cossairt, her husband of 49 years.
Pat dedicated her life to public service. She served 35 years of distinguished service to the nation, first as a paralegal specialist for the United States Department of Justice and then as a judicial paralegal for a United States magistrate judge. She was honored with numerous awards, including the Department of Justice Executive Director’s Award, which United States Attorney General Janet Reno presented to her in Washington, D.C.
In her retirement, Pat was devoted to serving the homeless at Grace Campus, “Lubbock Tent City,” and was an active member of Christ the King Cathedral where she served in the church office, Social Ministries Commission, and Eucharistic Ministries. Her quiet and humble service included making afghans for the homeless, serving at funeral receptions, and driving parishioners to Mass. As a cancer survivor, she supported organizations such as Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. She enjoyed yoga; loved her friends and organizing social outings with them; and adored Sophie, Annie, and Ellie, her precious Bichon Frises. They were the light of her life. Pat had a great sense of humor and would often laugh until she cried. She will be missed by many.
She was predeceased by her parents; siblings, Tommy Yetter and Billy Yetter, and is survived by her husband Jeff; siblings: Bobby Yetter, Doris Bgavazzi, Jimmy Yetter, Chuck Yetter, Chris Yetter, Kathy Branch, Donald Yetter, Mary Moran, and Dolly Romero; 23 nieces and nephews; and many friends. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorials to SPCA of Texas.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of “Pat” in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home, Friday, February 23, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., with reception to follow.
