Patricia Ann Sipowicz (Tillinghast), beloved wife and mother, passed away on April 6, 2019. She was born in July 1938, in Ilion, New York. She attended Ilion High School and Rochester Institute of Technology, majoring business.
She married her love and partner in life, Thomas Sipowicz, on October 8, 1960. Together, they raised six children, losing their dear Linda in childhood. Pat worked in radio and advertising, later embarking on a second career as a parish director of religious education. In addition to being a loving mother, wife, and homemaker, she was a life-long artist, artisan and gardener.
There was not a medium of creativity that she could not master. She enjoyed sharing her gifts and was thrilled to have her oil paintings recognized and awarded in her later years. Pat was a woman of deep faith and lived it out in the most practical ways, particularly advocating and caring for those whose voices were not heard or whose needs were not met.
Pat moved with her family from Rochester, New York to Centerville, Ohio; from there they moved to Texas, residing in both Burleson and Sulphur Springs before finally settling in Lubbock. In addition to her daughter, Linda, she is pre-deceased by her parents Kenneth and Agnes Tillinghast.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Thomas, of Lubbock, Texas and their children: Lauri Deckard of Ransom Canyon, Texas; Timothy Sipowicz (Lori) of Granbury, Texas; Thomas Sipowicz of Hyattsville, Maryland; Susan Martz of Ransom Canyon, Texas; and Michael Sipowicz (Kimberly) of Lubbock, Texas. Patricia is also survived by her brother, John (Barbara) Tillinghast of Seguin, Texas, her sister Ann Harris (Wayne) of Big Flats, New York, as well as by sixteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Deacon Randy Canale for his kindness and consistent pastoral presence. Donations can be made in her memory to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation. www.clf4kids.org. A rosary will be held at 7pm, with visitation following at 7:30 pm, Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel.
