

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 20, 2013 from 5 to 6:30 PM at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Resthaven Abbey chapel with burial to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Ray was born on January 14, 1931 in Milensand, New Mexico to Melvin and Marie (Russell) Gillit.
He served in the U.S. Army in the 1950’s during the Korean War. During this time he met his future wife, Mozelle Hardin. They were married on January 31, 1954.
Ray worked as an acoustical ceiling carpenter for 40 plus years prior to his retirement. He was a proud member of the Carpenters Union for 50 plus years. He thoroughly thrived in woodworking, making puzzles, trays and roosters out of wood. He enjoyed his time drinking coffee with his friends at the bank daily.
He was preceded in death by his wife on November 24, 2005 and his brother, Wayne Gillit.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Hutchison and husband, Mark of Austin; son, Les Gillit and wife, Andrea of Lubbock; grandchildren, Amy Hutchison, Quinten Lanier and Ella Gillit; sisters, Loveta Ream and Margie Lewis and brother, Max Gillit.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Friendship Senior Citizens Center, FM 179 and North 5th Street, Wolfforth, 79382.
