
Raymond Reid Beal, Jr, 86, passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by his family.
He was born to Raymond and Georgia Mae Beal in Slidell, Louisiana on December 5, 1924. The family soon moved to Corpus Christi and as a lifetime Corpus Christi resident there was nothing Raymond didn’t like about the Bay Area. Raymond served in the US Marine Corp during World War II. He married Ruth Burke on August 5, 1944. He retired as an engineer from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Raymond was a member of First Christian Church and was active as an elder and in the Allred Sunday School Class. Raymond cherished Tuesday Chapel Prayer and greeting people as they came to Sunday worship.
Raymond is survived by his wife Ruth, younger brother Jim Eiland Beal of San Antonio and three daughters, Jan Tortoriello and husband Eddie, Pat Coleman and husband Danny and Kae Beal Liles and husband Steve. Grandchildren: Katie Metzger and husband Chris, Luke McClatchey and wife Monique, Jenny Coleman, Jody Hayes and husband Chris, Charley Coleman and Emily Liles. Great Grandchildren: Lukas Metzger, Madison McClatchey, Gage McClatchey, Coleman Hayes, Sterling Hayes, and Preston Hayes.
Raymond’s life will be celebrated Wednesday, January 5, at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church, 3401 Santa Fe, Corpus Christi, Texas. Services will be conducted by Rev. Don Tuttle. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials in Raymond’s honor to be made to First Christian Church, Corpus Christi.
