

Rick Barrington of Lubbock, Texas, passed away April 8th, 2025. Rick was born in Crosbyton, Texas on January 21st, 1948, to Clyde and Betty Barrington. They lived in Crosbyton before moving to New Deal, Texas, where they owned the grocery store that was there for many years.
Rick played basketball and football for New Deal, but the family moved to Lubbock during Rick’s high school years, and he graduated from Lubbock High. After graduation he joined the Navy where he served on the USS Mobil as a boiler tender and received commendations such as the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. He served during Vietnam and after four years he was honorably discharged.
He met Mary Ann Hubler while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia through her brother-in-law, Mac, who was married to Mary’s sister, Sandy. They dated and when his ship pulled out from Norfolk, he told her to be on the pier in San Diego, California when his ship pulled in. So, he handed her a plane ticket, and she was in California on that pier when his ship pulled in. They were married two months later, on February 21st, 1970, and lived in Imperial Beach, California briefly before making their way back to Lubbock, Texas.
Rick made his career with the United States Postal Service for 30 years. He began as a letter carrier and then rose to postal manager. In his spare time, he loved to bowl, play golf, play racquetball, boat, and fish.
Rick and Mary had two daughters and enjoyed watching them participate in the many activities they were involved in. Rick and Mary loved to travel and see family, they also enjoyed hitting various casinos to try their hand with Lady Luck.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Betty Barrington of Lubbock, Texas, brother, Jimmy Barrington of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Partin, of Midland, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Barrington of Lubbock, Texas; his two daughters, Michelle and husband Mark Moore of Lubbock, Texas, Lisa and husband Shane Shobert of Spur, Texas; a brother, Jerry and his wife Lucy Barrington of Lubbock, Texas; five grandchildren: Kayla and husband Andrew Bateman of Spur, Texas, Jay Allen of Lubbock, Texas, Kimberly and husband Sam Partin of Midland, Texas, Kacie and husband Jon Deeds of Lubbock, Texas, Brooke and husband Jhett Reese of Ralls, Texas.
He is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Maverick, and Evelyn Bateman, as well as Briar and Blaise Deeds.
A visitation for Rick will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025, from 5 PM – 7 PM and graveside service will be held the following morning, April 16th, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Resthaven Memorial Park.
