Rick Allen

Memorial services for Rick Allen, 59, of Slaton will be at 4 p.m. today, Feb. 18, in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Gene Klutts officiating. Rick passed away on Saturday, Feb. 15, surrounded by his family. Richard Leon Allen (Rick) was born on Oct. 11, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri to William D. and Vera L. (Stephens) Allen. He graduated from Raytown South High School. Rick would be considered a jack-of-all-trades. He married the love of his life, Rhonda, on Sept. 15, 1984. During his lifetime, he held many positions, but his most recent was in the Maintenance Department of Roosevelt ISD. Not only could Rick fix anything, he could build anything. Rick constructed several new additions throughout Roosevelt ISD, as well as building a beautiful podium for the elementary auditorium. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and woodworking. His most favorite and cherished past-time was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Family was of the utmost importance to Rick. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Rhonda; two brothers, Kelvin and Jerry; two sisters, Elaine and Cindy; four children, Nick Allen and wife Kirsten, Jenifer Woods and husband Carl, Danielle Morgan and husband Eric, and Jenny Nelson and husband Charles; and 11 grandchildren.
