

Rita was born on June 26, 1949, in Lubbock, Texas, to Robert F. and Ruth C. Wilson. She had one brother, Robert Preston “Pete” Wilson. She grew up in Levelland, where she created many cherished memories with family and friends, graduating from Levelland High School in 1967.
In 1968, Rita moved to Lubbock, where she married the love of her life, Steve Carlisle III. Together, they built a life centered on love, devotion, and family. They were blessed with a son, Steve Carlisle IV, who was the pride and joy of her heart. In later years, Rita’s happiness grew as she welcomed a daughter-in-law, Tracey Carlisle, into the family. Over time, Rita grew to love and appreciate Tracey as the daughter she always wanted. This led to her most treasured role as ‘ReRe’ to her beloved granddaughter, Madison.
Rita devoted her career to medical coding and billing, serving at Medical Arts Clinic and Covenant Health Systems. Her strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and genuine kindness earned her the respect of her colleagues and the gift of many lasting friendships.
Rita will be remembered for the deep love and unwavering devotion she showed to her family. She cherished every moment with her loved ones and had a special gift for making everyone around her feel truly valued and cared for.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Carlisle III; her son, Steve Carlisle IV and his wife, Tracey; her granddaughter, Madison; sister-in-law, Patricia Wilson; nephew Chris Wilson; and niece, Paige Freeman and her husband, Kyle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Wilson, and her brother, Robert Preston “Pete” Wilson.
Graveside Service
A graveside service to honor Rita’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Lubbock, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the cancer research foundation or charity of your choice.
Rita’s life was a beautiful example of love, faith, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew her.
