Rolando was born on November 29, 1965, in Lubbock, Texas, to Joe and Dolores Ponce. He was a man of strength, principle, and quiet kindness—known by many for his deep love for his family and his unwavering dedication to his work.
Rolando faithfully served the community as an Investigator for the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office from April 1997 to September 2016. His sharp insight, integrity, and heart for justice left a lasting impact on all who worked alongside him. He approached his calling with humility and courage, always seeking truth and fairness.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment through his children: Alyssa (Drew) Reyes, Breanna Ponce, and Matthew (Savannah) Ponce. He is also lovingly remembered by his father, Joe (Elvira) Ponce, and his brothers, Joe (Rosemary) Ponce Jr., and Roger (Jenn) Ponce. Rolando’s greatest joy in life was found in the role of being “Popo” to his grandchildren: Greyson, Sienna, Braydon, and Liam. Rolando was welcomed into eternal rest by his mother, Dolores Ponce, whose love he carried with him always.
Rolando’s story does not end here—his memory lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the quiet strength he modeled every day.
May he rest in the gentle peace of God’s eternal embrace.
