

After graduating from Cooper High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1955. He married the love of his life, Mary Catherine Veretto October 28, 1957. Together they raised three children, Cindy (11/22/1962), Chris (1/30/1966), and Craig (7/11/1967).
Royce was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Royce could often be found reeling in a big catch, working in his wood shop, or cheering on the Texas Rangers or Dallas Cowboys with Catherine. Royce was also committed to serving his community with many years of volunteering time completing church repairs and as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Royce was a dedicated man of faith. He could always be found at church on a Sunday morning with Catherine and his children in tow.
Royce worked for the Frigidaire corporation for over 30 years as a service supervisor. He could fix any appliance placed in front of him. He was able to transfer these skills to add on to his house eventually doubling its physical size.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, daughter Cindy Trett (Carl) of Glasgow, KY, and son Craig Bednarz (Bridget) of Amarillo, TX. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Megan Pledger (Greg) of Wolfforth, TX, Dillon Bednarz of Lubbock, TX, Collin Bednarz of Lubbock, TX, Cade Bednarz of Canyon, TX and Jennifer Herta (Andrew) of Bellingham, WA; as well as three siblings, Donald Bednarz of Lubbock, TX, Kenneth Bednarz of Lubbock, TX and Shirley Moerbe of Burnet, TX.
Royce was preceded in death by his son Chris, grandson Garrett, and siblings Wayne and Mary Etta.
A viewing will be held 5:00 pm May 27, 2025, at Resthaven Funeral Home, Lubbock, TX followed by a Rosary service at 6:00 pm. Funeral arrangements will be held 10:00 am May 28, 2025, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Lubbock, TX.
