Rudy Guzman, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, just two days shy of his 90th birthday. He was born on January 10, 1935, in San Antonio, Texas, to Ben and Consuelo “Connie” Guzman.
On March 14, 1953, Rudy married the love of his life, Amelia Rubio Guzman. Together, they built a family filled with love and cherished memories. Rudy worked diligently throughout his career and retired from Farmers Co-op Gin. He was known for his dedication to his family and his passion for working outdoors, where he found joy and fulfillment. If you could not find Rudy at home past midnight, then you would most likely find him at midnight bingo where "N40" was his favorite ball.
Rudy was preceded in death by his wife, Amelia Rubio Guzman; his mother, Consuelo P. Guzman; his brothers Henry P. Guzman, Ben P. Guzman, and Jessie Guzman; his sister Carmen M. Montoya; his grandson Daniel Martinez Jr.; and his great-grandson David Rivera III (TiLo).
He is survived by his children: Rudy Guzman Jr., Rosalinda Guzman (Jimmy Luera), Rachel Rodriguez, Olga Castillo (Henry), Gloria Guzman, Richard Guzman (Deborah), Randy Guzman (Patricia), Alice Mercado (Gary), Ruben Guzman, Jason Lee Garza, and Amalia Riojas. Rudy also leaves behind his sisters: Lovelia Herrera, Delfina Moya (Pete), San Juanita Nichols, Isabel A. Hernandez, Susy Jo Torres (Henry), and Lupy Esqueda (Omar Sr.). His legacy continues through 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Rudy’s loving fur companions, Lily and Chiquita, were also dear to him.
Rudy’s life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, and a love for the simple joys of life. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and inspire generations to come.
