Her father, being a minister, moved the family to many cities but Shirley graduated from Childress High School. She had seven siblings with whom she maintained a close relationship throughout her life. Shirley met E.G "Buddy" Grantham, and they married on August 18, 1955. Buddy was in the Air Force so they moved to San Antonio where he was stationed at the Air Force Base. Their first son, Terry , was born in 1956, and they moved to Lubbock and Reese Air Force Base shortly after for Terry to receive medical treatment for his asthma. A year later another son, Greg, was born.
Shirley worked in women's retail throughout her career and had an amazing group of loyal customers and friends. Her final store was Clair's Closet. But Shirley's ultimate love was her family-especially her sons and grandsons. She was the loudest and most loyal fan and cheerleader at all their sporting and school activities. In "Mama's" eyes, her grandsons could do no wrong.
She was loved and adored by her brothers and sisters and had daily communication with several of them, most notably her sister, Quannah.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Gertrude; husband, Buddy; sons, Terry and Greg; stepmother, Lois Davis; brother, Ross Davis Jr.; and sister Pat Hogan.
Left to cherish her memory are grandsons: Cole Grantham, Corbin Grantham ( of Dallas), and Cason Grantham; her daughter-in-law, LeAnn Grantham; sisters, Quannah Reed and Lois Bell; brothers: Herbert Davis, Troy Davis, and Clint (Dee) Davis; niece, Shauna (Shawn) Sandell; great-niece, Maddox Sandell; great-nephew, Connor Sandell; and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
