Sydney Wayne Simmons

Sydney Wayne Simmons Jr. passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020. We will celebrate his life of 68 years at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. The family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, August 17, 2020, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.  In support of the health of his family, face coverings are mandatory while attending the service and visitation.  The service will be live-streamed and be available for thirty days on this page. You are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy by selecting the icon.Sydney Wayne Simmons Jr. was born on April 5, 1952, to Sydney Sr. and Oleta Simmons in Lubbock, TX.   Sydney graduated from Estacado High School and attended Texas Tech University.  He worked for many decades with his dad at Simmons Painting Company as a paint contractor.  Sydney enjoyed cooking and building motorcycles.  He had a passion for restoring classic cars and was an active member of the Hub City Cruisers for several years.  He took great pleasure in spending time and traveling with the love of his life, his wife Cheryl.Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Simmons; father, Sydney Simmons Sr.; brother, Jerry Charles Simmons and wife Tamyra; and a step-son, Michael Harris, all of Lubbock.He was preceded in death by his mother, Oleta Jo Simmons; and a son, Nicholas James Simmons.
