

Our Mama, Thelma V. Standifer, age 86 of Lubbock, Texas, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Saturday, June 24, 2017. She was born on June 25, 1930 to Robert Curney and Mary Lou Grigg in Sentinel, Oklahoma. At the age of 3, her family moved to Kingston, Arkansas and had her youngest sibling.
The family later settled in Anton, Texas where she and her nine siblings were raised on a farm, by working in the cotton fields, she learned the value of hard work and serving the Lord. These values carried throughout her life, as she continued serving the Lord, her church and community.
Thelma married the love of her life, Fred Standifer, Sr., on April 23, 1948 and they bore and raised five children. She was a Retail Manager at Payless Shoe Stores, and then became a Sales Associate with SAS Shoe Stores until her retirement.
She loved life and lived it to its fullest. She remained devoted to her Lord, family and friends.
Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; eight siblings; husband; sons, Fred, Jr. and James Standifer; daughter, Donna Sedgwick; and a son-in-law, Fed Selman.
Survivors include son, Gayland Standifer and wife, Lucilea of Midland, TX; daughter, Gayle Selman of Bryan, TX; daughter-in-law, Nancy Standifer of Hico, TX; son-in-law, Ronnie Sedgwick of Conroe, TX; sister, Bernice Teague of Lubbock, TX; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
