Bill was born on September 4th, 1935, in Roby, Texas, to Vera and Oran Simmons. He graduated from Midland High School in 1953 and later obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University in 1958. In 1958 William enlisted in the U.S. Army and served until 1964.
Bill married the love of his life, Ruby Mae Simmons, on June 10th, 1956. Together they welcomed two children into the world, Ronald and Karen.
Bill made a career in Retail Management with The Dunlap Company and Montgomery Wards. He was a proud member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, Ronald William Simmons; daughter, Karen Simmons Schange; and his beloved dog, Lady “Baby”.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Simmons; parents, Oran Sylvester Simmons and Vera Hurst Simmons; his siblings; Daniel Maurice Simmons, Mary Frances Daniels, Oran Jack Simmons, James Alford Simmons, Clara Maurine Hammit, Betty Lou Shelley, Georgia Lee Shipman, and Vera Sue Covington.
A private family burial will take place at Resthaven Memorial Park.
