It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Yvonne Buchanan, who passed away peacefully at her home on October 23, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born on January 9, 1936 in Mesquite, TX, to George and Aurora Shipley.
Yvonne showed great kindness and warmth to everyone she met. She will be remembered for the quilts she helped make with the sewing ladies at her church. Everyone shared her infectious laugh.
She graduated from Tulia High School and went on to a career as a nurse, in which she was known for her caring touch and love for each patient. After a few years as a nurse, she became a homemaker. In her free time, Yvonne enjoyed gardening, reading, and knitting.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her sister Gracie Mae Hancock. She is survived by her children, Don, Jr., and his wife Elvira, and Douglas; her grandchildren, Rosanna Buchanan Warden and Matthew; and her great- grandchildren, Levi Warden, Noah Warden, and Carson Buchanan; and many other loving family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Greenlawn Church of Christ on October 29, 2025, at 10:00am with burial to follow at Resthaven. Viewing will be held at Resthaven Tuesday, October 28, 5:00-7:00pm.
