Mr. Dewey Smith

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 28, 2011 at Caney Baptist Church, Lumberton for Mr. Dewey Smith, 81, of Lumberton, Mississippi who died January 25, 2011 in his home. Brother Roger Miller will officiate at the service. Burial will follow in the Caney Baptist Church Cemetery, Lumberton.

He was born July 14, 1929 in Lamar County, Mississippi to Wiley and Flora Smith. Mr. Smith was a Deacon at Caney Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife Margie Smith; one son, Ricky Smith of Lumberton, Mississippi; three daughters, Sandra Holifield of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Connie Slocum of Foxworthy, Mississippi, and Ronda Holcombe of Kodiak, Alaska; one brother, Nolan Smith of Columbia, Mississippi; two sisters, Doris May of Lumberton, Mississippi, and Barbara Howard of Lumberton, Mississippi; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, W. E. Smith, Laverne Smith, and Floyd Smith; three sisters Lois Anderson, Coleen Lee, and Donnis Yates.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 27, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Friday, January 28, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at Caney Baptist Church.
