Susan Gay High Williams of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, departed this life into God’s presence on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the age of 71. Susan was born in Lumberton, Mississippi on January 5,1954 to Vernon High and Mary Jo Bass. For the past 35 years, Susan has called Hattiesburg her home. She was a longtime member of Heritage Methodist Church, where her presence was steady and comforting. A gentle soul with a generous heart, she found joy in life’s quiet moments- polishing silver to a fine shine, taking peaceful afternoon walks, and listening intently as others shared the stories of their days. She had a gift for making people feel heard, seen and deeply valued. In addition to her parents, Susan is preceded in death by her brother, Hugh “Sydney” High. Left to forever cherish her memory are her sons, Matthew “Matt” Williams (Robin) and Mark Williams; grandchildren, Steven Williams (Alley), Jonathan Williams, Carter Williams, Matthew Williams, Jackson Williams and Julia Williams; great grandchildren, Harvest Williams and Honey Williams; and her brothers, Stephen High (Carla) and Sherrill High. A memorial service for Susan will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 beginning at 1:00 PM at Lumberton United Methodist Church, 410 W 11th Avenue, Lumberton, Mississippi 39455. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation from noon until the service begins.
