

Addison Morgan Jennings, 82, was united with Christ his Savior on Friday, July 7. Born in Campbell County on December 1, 1934, he was the son of the late William Rosser Jennings and Faye Harris Jennings. He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtice Jennings.
Affectionately known as Al, he was the founder of Al’s Chicken and Dairy Barn. Throughout his life, he managed several restaurants in the area including Conson’s Dinette, Farmer’s Restaurant, Kenney’s, and JEB’s. His standards of excellence in food quality and customer service were instilled in his employees. The relationships he built with his customers was the foundation of his business.
To his family, he was known as Dad and Papa Al. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his former wife Elsie Angus Jennings, a brother Tillman Jennings, and grandson Randy Jennings, Jr. He leaves to mourn his passing sons and daughters: Randolph Jennings, Sr. and wife Amy, Sharron Gunter and husband Carlton, Janet Maxwell and husband Ron, Donna Brooks and husband Mike, and Ronnie Shepherd. He is survived by his grandchildren: Kimberley Shull, Mark Jennings, Jaime Holofchak, Amanda Gunn, David and Jonathan Gunter, Justin Staples, Gavin Maxwell, Brandon Stinnett, Keaton and Taylor Brooks. Papa Al was blessed with 12 great grandchildren. Other survivors include his sister Willie Callahan, brother Herman Jennings and his wife Mary Ann, a host of nieces and nephews, and a devoted friend Patricia Leftwich.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel with Rev. Carlton Gunter officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the nurses and caregivers of Runk & Pratt Liberty Ridge, Seven Hills Hospice, and Generation Solutions who took excellent care of Al during his final months.
