Ms. Ramsey was born in Ellsworth, ME on July 25, 1942 to Rudolphus and Christine McKay Ryder. Her family moved to Portsmouth, VA when she was 9 years old. She worked as a meat wrapper for many years, primarily at the Belo store on Broad Street in Portsmouth. She was a member of Sweethaven Baptist Church in Portsmouth, and most recently of Hyland Heights Baptist Church in Rustburg, VA. She loved helping and serving others, but more than anything, she loved serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Ms. Ramsey was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Ramsey, and by three brothers and one sister. Survivors include her three daughters, Susan Williamson (Hunter) of Franklin, VA; Sindy McClenaghan (Brian) of Chesapeake, VA; Sandy Brewer (Carl) of Rustburg, VA; one son, Dennis Ramsey (Susan) of Chesapeake, VA; one sister, Judy Brooks of Portsmouth, VA; nine beloved grandchildren; and ten precious great grandchildren.
She lived her life with a servant's heart. She was always finding ministries to be a part of and had a particular love for the "Clothes Closet". She had a passion for cooking, sewing, and loving her family. She had many sweet friends from church who will miss her dearly. Her family finds great comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens in Suffolk, VA, led by Pastor Carl Weiser. A memorial/celebration of life service will be held in Lynchburg, VA on a date yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, she had requested donations be made to the Hyland Heights Baptist Church Missions Scholarship Fund.
