

Born on March 14, 1932 in Greenville, VA she was the daughter of the late Willie and Annie Nuckoles. She was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church.
Arlene graduated from Lynchburg General Marshall Lodge and Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. Upon graduation, she began her career in nursing at Lynchburg General Hospital where she worked from 1954 to 1982. In 1982 she worked at Central Virginia Training Center till she retired in 1993. Besides her love for nursing and helping people, Arlene loved roses and needle point.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, S. Allen Bomar and her brother, Johnnie Nuckoles.
In addition to her husband, James, Arlene is survived by her children, David Michael Bomar, Russell James Bomar and wife Karen of SC, and Ann Marie Bomar Wade and husband Michael; grandchildren, Christopher Michael Bomar and wife Jaime, Kindsay Bomar Maulbeck and husband Chris, Lindsay Bomar Demshar and husband Kevin, Carin Bomar Najjar, Cameron Wade Thacker and wife Natalie and Kevin Michael Wade; great grandchildren, Salina, Elijah, Jordan, Jax, Jace, Jules, Shaun, Sierra, Carter, Carsen and Gabriel; sister, Mary Alice “Peggy” Shue and husband Owen; brothers, Bill Nuckoles and wife Freda and Lawrence Nuckoles; dedicated and loyal friend, Estelle Ripley; dedicated and loving caretaker, Susan Coleman, who was like a daughter; and numerous other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ian McManamey officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday starting at 9:30 am.
