
Born July 23, 1906, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Violet Wynn Towles and Charles Ballard Towles. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne Ross Steenson; two sisters, Margaret T. Wright and Louise T. English; and two brothers, Charles I. Towles and James O. Towles.
She was retired from Glamorgan Pipe and Foundry and was a gifted artist. Among her many paintings were several historical points of interest in the Lynchburg area. She was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church and for a short time active in Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Anne Ross Trent, of Richmond; a sister, Nancy T. Pittard, of Altavista; step-children, Robert Price, of Burlington, NC; Rose Marie Jones, of Roanoke, and Jean Hodges, of Richmond; grandchildren, Charles Michael Trent, Susan Musselman, and Nina Switzer, all of Richmond, Ted Wright, of Germany, David Wright, of Lynchburg, and Ross Steenson, of San Francisco, CA; great-grandchildren, Katie Trent, Kirby Rose Trent, Clay Musselman, Dakota Wellington-Ballard Wright, Arizona Ballard Wright, David Daniel Wright, and Jennifer Wright; nieces and nephews, Charles Towles, of Savannah, GA, John Dennis Towles, of Lynchburg, Margaret E. Lester, of Martinsville, Joan E. Allen, of Fayetville, NC, Suzanne E. Morse, of Pendleton, SC, Beverley E. Dalton, of Altavista, Margaret Parker, of Lynchburg, James Towles, of Forest, Henry Pittard Jr., of Blacksburg, James Pittard, of Lynchburg, and Ann Towles Pittard, of Chapel Hill, NC.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, by the Rev. Rocky Rioseco. Interment will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
