Born on November 10, 1938, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Horace and Esther Waddington. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Hecker, and brother, Robert Waddington.
Barbara retired from Delta Star (formerly HK Porter) after more than 30 years of dedicated service. After retirement, she continued to share her warmth and kindness while working at Dee’s Hallmark, where she enjoyed connecting with the community.
Barbara was deeply devoted to her family and found joy in music, dancing, and playing cards. She had a heart full of love for her pets—Jovi, Sunny, and her “Baby Girl”—whom she affectionately called her babies.
She is survived by her nephew, Charles (Chuck) W. Hecker III and his wife Shawn; great-nephew Christian Hecker; niece Beth Bradley and her husband Jeff; great-niece Kenzie Bradley; and great-nephew Connor Bradley.
A service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the start of the service, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Amedisys Hospice for the compassionate care provided. A very special thank you goes to Cheryl Moore for her exceptional care and kindness during Barbara’s final weeks. The family is also deeply grateful to the many friends who offered visits, meals, and love—your support meant the world to Barbara and her loved ones.
Barbara’s legacy of love, laughter, music, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
