Bernice was a great individual who loved her family with love and passion. She was a great asset to Thomas Road Baptist Church and Old Time Gospel Hour, she later without missing a beat worked at Liberty University. She was one who you would not misunderstand and you were thankful for her honesty. She had a great Witt about her and took such good care of her mom. After her mom passed Bernice continued to work but really I think was longing for heaven. She is safely home today. Sure miss the smile and Witt though. See you one day lady! 

I don’t really even know where to begin.  My wife and I have known Bernice for MANY years as well as her mother from when we lived in Lynchbug also.   We shared a BIG love for the Great Smoky Mountains and would OFTEN go to the Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg area.  Bernice worked at LU where I spent many years also and I’d see most every day and talk with her either coming or going from work.  More recently we would often talk by Facebook or txt messages or calls on the phone and would often talk about our shared love for ceramics and I’d often talk to her about ones my Grandfather and I made when I was growing up.  Then we would get into talking about the place in Northern Virginia she was getting her supplies at which was in the area I used to work when I worked for PWCPD.   She was at each my kids graduations and celebrations we did at our home.  We didn’t talk much about her family and I never really gave it much thought.  She would often talk to me about the farm and cutting the grass.   When I got the call from the PD about her passing my heart just sank.  But then a short time later my wife and I were in Virginia and drove by her home in Halifax and was so saddened to see how much it needed cleaning up out side and her seeing her Jeep still parked there was such so heart breaking.  To now seeing not much really known about her wishes and I with her home, car ect and seeming like family was not really planed out by her as to what she wanted just breaks our heart so much.  We are also do deeply saddened that we will not be able to make the services for her as we live in Florida now.  We do draw comfort and peace in knowing that Bernice knew the Lord and had a relationship with Jesus Christ so she we KNOW she is in heaven with her parents and we WILL see her again.   We LOVE you Bernice and THANK YOU for BIG impact you had on our lives. 

I have known Bernice for many years and also her mom.  Robert and I would go by and see them at the farm house  near South Boston. She was a wonderful Christian lady and I loved her so much. She will be missed greatly but now she’s with her mom and dad and her Lord. 

Our son Danny thought so much of Bernice and we did too. The last time I saw her was at the heart doctors office as I was there too. I knew her In TRBC choir too. We all already miss her but glad she knew our wonderful Lord!!!!

Bernice always made sure I had my apple butter from Pigeon Forge, but my greatest joy was Bernice allowing me to take care of her while she was in a rehab facility after breaking her ankle.  She was a very strong and determined woman and I really admired that.  I miss her very much, but I am so thankful that she is now breathing without difficulty, walking without a cane, and standing perfectly straight in Heaven.  
My loss is great, but I look forward to seeing you again in Heaven.  I love you, my friend.

Bernice is already missed.  Thankful for her warm-heartedness and the laughs she often brought to the office.  She was a blessing to know and work with!

Love and going to miss you!  I'll be thinking of you as I continue to search the Family Cementries and History.  See you in Heaven some day.

Bernice will be missed.  As a new "transplanted" employee at Liberty University, Bernice made me feel welcomed.  She would talk to me everyday, sharing stories of her childhood and places that she had been.  She loved Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, and would talk forever about what to see and do there!  She may have had a tough pretense, but her heart was tender.  She will be fondly remembered.
