She was born on February 7, 1953 and was the daughter of the late Pearl and Braswell Brandt. Betty was one of their seven children.
Betty graduated from Rustburg High School as a head cheerleader and went on to Lynchburg College where she earned a BA in history and a BS in nursing. She served as a nurse at the Centra Hospital but found her calling at the Central Virginia Training Center where she taught staff development classes to trainees, preparing them for the care of residents of the facility.
She is survived by her beloved son, Zachary Puckette of Roanoke, her three sisters; Regina Perry (Jimmy) of Appomattox, Vicki Wilson (Peter) of Richmond, and Judy Tomlin of Lynchburg. Betty also leaves behind her cherished friend and pet, Easton as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by three siblings; Ronnie, David, and Becky.
Betty will be remembered as a person with as big heart, ready to help anyone in need. Her family members will miss her great sense of humor and generous heart. May love and peace surround our sweet Betty in this next journey.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel at 1:00 pm with Pastor David Turner officiating.
